My life, my blogs…………………

I have been posting articles on my blogs for ten years now- my first article was published under Pittabread in March 2010.

So, now feels like a good time to pause and reflect — why I blog, why as a relatively private person, I choose to share my thoughts in a public space.

My initial intention in 2010 was to publish one post per month, an achievable and realistic target. I was more interested in establishing a consistent and sustainable habit that worked for me.

Initially, I wanted to develop the discipline of meeting a regular deadline, even if it were just my own. I also planned to use writing to explore different personal and professional topics, so I created Pittabread, after our daughter’s favourite food.

I cannot remember who said this, but you never fully know how well you understand something until you need to break it down and explain it to someone else. My blogs help me to do this.

However, after my mum passed away, it made more sense to create a second blog. One that would relate more to my professional life as a career coach Pittabread could continue as a personal blog, focusing on my life in general and my take on it.

So, in 2012, Careerresilience was born, and it has been going strong ever since. Today it has almost ninety posts. I find it helps me (and hopefully, my readers) to explore different approaches and models relating to how people can develop resilience in their careers and working lives. It satisfies the slightly geeky side of my character. I enjoy playing with different theories and models and seeing how I can apply them to real-life situations.

Then after hearing my daughter complaining about having to write stories at school, I decided to add another title to my stable of blogs. Shortstoriesblogger, the most recent addition, is now six years old and very different. Currently, there are twenty-five published stories, and these are probably best described as falling within the genre of magical realism.

Today I juggle these three blogs and publish content on LinkedIn and Medium. I use each of my blogs to explore different aspects of my personality and life.

Pittabread represents my quirky, random, eclectic collection of interests, likes and dislikes — in other words, it is about my life as a mother, wife, and friend. It is how I make sense of some of the stuff ‘scurrying’ around inside my head.

Careerresilience allows me to explore my professional life as a career coach, the models, the tools I use. I can highlight examples of past work, best practice, and testimonials from past clients.

My fascination with writing stories has increased over the years with Shortstoriesblogger — my space to be creative and playful. It provides an outlet for the ‘impish’ and mischievous part of my personality.

I am not entirely sure where Shortstoriesblogger will go- but I have decided just to let it ‘float’ out there and see what happens. I should add that I am also working on a collection of stories — about a young woman coming of age in the 80s 😉.
